Privacy policy

Who is responsible

Thrift Directory Canada (thriftdirectory.ca) is published by InnovE-Tech Solutions inc. (Quebec enterprise number 1182428236), 35 Chemin Boisé, Brownsburg-Chatham (QC) J8G 1G6, Canada.

The person in charge of the protection of personal information is Philippe Martin. Contact: info@innovetechsolutions.com, or by mail at the address above.

What the site collects

The site asks for no account, no password and no sign-up. It sets no cookie and contains no audience measurement tool, no advertising and no script supplied by a third party.

Like any web server, ours keeps a log of each request: IP address, date and time, page requested, referring page and browser description. This log is used only to run the site, protect it against abuse and fix errors. It is deleted no later than 14 days after the visit.

Search runs in your browser: the site downloads the list of listings once, and what you type never leaves your device.

The map

When you come near the map on a page, your browser requests its images (tiles) from the OpenStreetMap servers, run by the OpenStreetMap Foundation in the United Kingdom, and its delivery providers. Those servers then receive your IP address, the address of our site and your browser description, as for any image loaded from another site. They may process this information outside Quebec. Their policy: https://osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy. Nothing is requested from them until you reach the map.

Correction and removal requests

The “Correct or remove a listing” form sends nothing to our server: it prepares an email in your own mail program, which you send yourself to info@innovetechsolutions.com. We therefore receive your email address, your name if your mail program includes it, and what you write.

This mailbox is hosted by our email provider, which may process messages outside Quebec. Every request is read and handled by a person; no decision is made by an automated system.

We keep the request and our answer for 12 months after it is handled, so that we can show it was honoured. In our database, a removal leaves a record (the listing, the date, “removal requested”) without your email address: this is what stops the listing from coming back at the next update.

The listings themselves

Listings describe businesses and organizations: name, address, phone, website, hours and features, taken from open sources and from the stores’ own websites (see “About and method”). No information about an individual is published: a personal email address read on a website is discarded before it is recorded.

A business run under a person’s name, or anyone who recognizes themselves in a listing, can ask for it to be corrected or removed without giving a reason; the request is honoured within 7 days.

Your rights

You can ask for access to the information we hold about you, for its correction or deletion, and withdraw your consent. Write to info@innovetechsolutions.com: we answer within 30 days.

You can also contact the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes

This policy carries a version date. If the site starts collecting anything else (audience measurement or advertising, for example), the policy will be changed first, and any cookie that is not strictly necessary will be set only with your consent.
