About and method
Thrift Directory Canada lists thrift stores, consignment shops and charity stores across Canada. We have not visited these stores: a listing is a set of facts, not a review.
Each fact comes from a source we are allowed to use: OpenStreetMap, the Overture Maps open datasets, the public store locators of some chains, and the stores’ own websites when their robots.txt allows it. No data from Google Maps is used or stored.
A store is published only when its listing is complete enough. A store found only in a machine-generated dataset (Overture Maps) is published once another source, the store’s own website or an editorial check confirms it. Fields we could not verify are marked “not verified”, never guessed.
Every listing names its sources, their licence and the date they were read. No store pays to appear here.
To correct or remove a listing, use the “Correct or remove a listing” page (link at the bottom of every page): we handle every request within 7 days, and a removal needs no reason.
